The Family Counseling Cell of the Indian Institute of Youth Welfare (IIYW) is a dedicated initiative aimed at resolving domestic conflicts, addressing emotional and psychological distress, and promoting family well-being and women’s safety. Recognizing the growing challenges within families due to economic pressure, lack of awareness, and societal norms, this program offers professional, confidential, and non-judgmental counseling support to individuals, couples, and families in need.

Since its inception, the cell has helped thousands of individuals rebuild relationships, escape abuse, and lead emotionally secure lives.


Objectives

  • To assist families in resolving domestic disputes and conflicts amicably

  • To offer psychological and emotional support through professional counseling

  • To empower women and vulnerable individuals to make informed life decisions

  • To create awareness about legal rights and social services

  • To reduce incidents of domestic violence, abuse, and family breakdowns


Services Offered

  • One-to-One Counseling for women, couples, and family members

  • Mediation and conflict resolution for marital or interpersonal issues

  • Legal guidance and referrals for cases involving domestic violence, child custody, etc.

  • Support for victims of abuse, including safety planning and follow-ups

  • Emotional and psychological support for trauma, anxiety, depression, and crisis situations

Approach

  • Confidential and client-centered counseling led by trained professionals

  • Non-judgmental space that respects all voices and experiences

  • Collaborations with police departments, district administration, legal aid authorities, and social welfare boards

  • Referral services for medical, legal, shelter, or rehabilitation support, when required

  • Awareness drives and workshops on gender sensitivity, women’s rights, and mental health

  • Two fully functional Family Counseling Centers under IIYW

  • Successfully resolved over 2,475 family disputes and cases

  • On average, 155 cases settled amicably every year

  • Helped women reclaim their independence, safety, and dignity

  • Supported vulnerable children and elderly in conflict-ridden households
