Indian Institute Of Youth Welfare
Lonara, Maharashtra 441111
The outbreak of COVID-19 severely impacted the lives and livelihoods of millions, especially the underprivileged. In response, the Indian Institute of Youth Welfare (IIYW) launched rapid and sustained relief initiatives across the districts of Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Yavatmal. Our mission was to protect the most vulnerable — including daily wage earners, migrant families, mother-headed households, and rural communities — by delivering immediate aid, healthcare access, and long-term recovery support.
Through strong coordination with government agencies, health departments, Gram Panchayats, and local volunteers, IIYW’s pandemic response became a lifeline for thousands.
Distributed dry ration kits to thousands of low-income and daily-wage families
Provided hygiene kits including masks, soaps, and sanitizers
Special support to women-led households, persons with disabilities, and migrant workers
COVID-19 education campaigns in rural and tribal communities
Vaccination awareness drives and support with registration
Organized gynaecological checkups, blood testing, and general health camps in villages like Mohorli
Nutrition and menstrual hygiene awareness sessions for adolescent girls
Distribution of sanitary kits and personal hygiene material
Emotional wellness sessions to support mental health during isolation and uncertainty
Training youth and SHG members to carry out awareness and relief campaigns
Street play workshops to spread COVID-appropriate behavior in rural settings
