Since 1973, the Indian Institute of Youth Welfare (IIYW) has placed youth and women at the heart of its mission. We are committed to building a society where every individual regardless of gender, caste, or background can live with dignity and opportunity.

Our Youth and Women’s Empowerment programs are designed to foster independence, build self-confidence, and offer practical skills for sustainable livelihoods. With over 16,000+ women trained and 900+ SHGs formed, IIYW has created meaningful change across the Vidarbha region.

Key Program Highlights

🔸 Vocational Training Programs

  • Tailoring, beauty parlour, mehendi, soft toy making, snacks preparation

  • Short-term courses for women and girls in slums and rural areas

  • 16,950+ beneficiaries trained in income-generating trades

🔸 Self Help Groups (SHGs)

  • 900+ SHGs formed and linked with local banks

  • Training in bookkeeping, gender equality, sanitation, health & hygiene

  • Women now economically and socially self-reliant

🔸 Community Life Centres (CLCs)

  • Training for women in tailoring, toy making, health, hygiene & sanitation

  • 75% of trained women sensitized on health, hygiene, and environmental issues

🔸 Family Counseling & Guidance Centre

  • Amicable settlement of family disputes

  • Two centers resolving approx. 155 cases yearly (2,475+ total beneficiaries)

🔸 Mother-Headed Families Project

  • Microfinance and training support for 2,000+ BPL women

  • Activities include goat-rearing, dairy, grocery and garments businesses

  • Supported by BORDA Germany

🔸 Krishi Saptak Yojana

  • Training for 50 women farming groups in improved agricultural practices

  • Confidence-building and gender sensitization through exposure visits

🔸 Rural Women’s Cooperative Societies

  • 3 cooperatives established and run by trained SHG women

  • Women access loans and training to start their own businesses

Impact

  • Over 26,400 women sensitized on health, hygiene, and sanitation

  • 1650 women supported through rural cooperatives

  • Thousands of lives transformed through skill-building and counseling
