Indian Institute Of Youth Welfare
Lonara, Maharashtra 441111
The Indian Institute of Youth Welfare (IIYW) welcomes international volunteers, especially from Germany, to be part of a meaningful and cross-cultural journey that creates real social impact. Our Volunteering Program provides an opportunity for young individuals to contribute their time, skills, and passion toward community development in India.
Through our partnership with various international organizations, particularly from Germany, we host volunteers who engage in a wide range of grassroots activities. From education and health to women’s empowerment, environment, and youth development — our volunteers play an essential role in strengthening the impact of our programs.
Educational Support: Assisting in schools and informal learning centers by supporting children with English, arts, and interactive learning.
Community Engagement: Helping organize workshops, awareness campaigns, and events in local communities.
Creative and Cultural Exchange: Sharing German culture through music, language, games, and creative activities while learning about Indian culture.
Support in Health and Sanitation Projects: Participating in health awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns, and menstrual hygiene workshops.
Assisting IIYW Staff: Helping in documentation, social media, reporting, and daily operations of the NGO.
The program offers a unique opportunity for German volunteers to immerse themselves in Indian culture, learn local customs, basic Hindi or Marathi, and understand social challenges from the ground up. Volunteers often stay with host families or in shared accommodations, fostering deep community connections.
Most volunteers join for 6 to 12 months under recognized international programs such as Weltwärts. Orientation, mentorship, and support are provided throughout the stay to ensure a safe, enriching, and transformative experience.
Volunteers not only contribute to the local communities but also take home a renewed global perspective, personal growth, and lasting relationships. Many of our past volunteers have continued to support IIYW even after returning to Germany.
Indian Institute of Youth Welfare (IIYW) is dedicated to empowering youth, women, and marginalized communities across Maharashtra through skill development, education, and sustainable development initiatives.
